What’s Really Making Us Sick?

Did you know there are a zillion things that can contribute to us getting sick?

  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Overconsumption of sugar/processed foods
  • Insufficient quality sleep
  • Lack of sunlight/nature
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Excess alcohol
  • EMF exposure
  • Overuse of medications
  • Stress/perpetual fear
  • Smoking
  • Environmental toxins

Well, maybe not a zillion, but certainly many … some of which are mentioned in the list above.

Thankfully, our bodies have an incredible in-built system designed to keep us healthy.

It’s called our Innate Immune System.

However, it needs us to make good diet and lifestyle decisions in order to support it.

If not, it’s unable to help you to thrive.

  • Your energy will be flat.
  • Your mental clarity will be impaired.
  • You will struggle to walk up stairs without puffing.
  • Your limbs and muscles will become stiff and sore.
  • Any “bug” that comes on the scene, will knock you for six … and so on.

Quite simply, if you want to live a healthy and fulfilling life – it needs your help.

It cannot do this without YOU.

Let’s address nutritional deficiencies as a result of a diet made up predominantly of fast food and soda drinks.

In the short term – this is no big deal right?

Sure. The human body is pretty resilient, and it will put up with quite a lot before it starts sending you little “warnings” or “messages”. These will be in the form of various signs and symptoms, telling you that it’s not happy with your choices.

However, after many weeks, months or even years of consuming foods and drinks that do not provide any nourishment, your body will become depleted of essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Without these life-sustaining nutrients, mechanisms within your body become impaired as your biochemistry starts to falter. Some of these include, but are not limited too:

  • Cells can’t create energy
  • Detoxification pathways become congested
  • Hormones needed to facilitate quality sleep and feelings of calm cannot be produced
  • Neurons in the brain begin to misfire
  • Nerves malfunction … the list is endless.

The body literally begins to sputter like a broken down car!

So my question to you is this.

Are you taking care of yourself, and if not, what’s stopping you?

I know shift work is brutal, and can certainly make things much harder, but this amazing “Earth Suit” we’ve all been gifted with, needs us to make healthy dietary and lifestyle choices so that it can reward us with great health and energy as a result.

Good health is also not achieved by doing one thing. It requires a holistic approach that involves addressing many areas of our lives and doing them on a consistent basis.

So what’s one thing you can do for yourself today that’s going to support your health and well-being?

Perhaps switching off the news and going for a walk in nature is a great place to start 😊.
