Do you experience sugar cravings?
Given sleep deprivation triggers the body to seek out sugar as a source of fuel for the brain, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance that you’re raising your hand right now .
This is because your body is always acting on your behalf, not only to help you to survive but to thrive.
It knows instinctively that it can break down carbohydrates into a useable form of energy very quickly, much faster than protein and fat.
But what else contributes to sugar cravings?
Nutritional deficiencies.
If the body is in a state of perpetual hunger as a result of being fed processed and refined foods that are void of nutrients, it’s going to experience additional urges to eat.
Your cells are going to literally “cry out” for nutrients that it needs in order to keep the body functioning.
Unfortunately, many of us respond by eating more processed foods, which creates a vicious cycle.
So what can we do to fix it?
By finding ways to turn off this ‘hunger switch’.
Essentially stopping cravings in their tracks before they get a chance to rear their ugly head!
One of the easiest ways to do this is to incorporate a green smoothie into your day – every day. Not only are they high in minerals, chlorophyll and fibre, which are like a trifecta for reducing unhealthy cravings, but the broken-down food aids in the rapid restoration of the body’s nutrient reserves. It’s a win-win all around.
So take the Green-Smoothie-A-Day-Challenge and begin to see your cravings for sugar fall away with ease.
Not only will your health improve, but so too will your waistline if it’s expanded a little over the years as a result of a diet that may have not served you well.
