Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life!

What do you think? Do you think it’s possible to change your life by changing your thoughts?

Well let me share with you a personal story …

Three years ago my workplace underwent a massive change which resulted in a third of my colleagues quitting their job or having to resign due to stress. Now I worked for a huge organisation at the time so those numbers were huge. For me, well I ended up in my doctor’s office in tears and close to breaking point.

But what I didn’t know it at the time, was that this ‘event’ was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.

Why? Because my doctor handed me a flyer which simply said: “Change your life, by changing your thoughts”.

Now when I read that I thought – “What the?” But it wasn’t until I took that flyer home and really studied it that I began to understand a concept called ‘Cognitive Behavioural Therapy’. Because at the time I had so many negative thoughts going through my head – I really felt like I was on an out of control roller coaster.

Negative thoughts create negative energy which in turn adds to fatigue (as if I wasn’t tired enough!!)

So I got hold of any book I could on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or ‘CBT’ and started absorbing the contents like a mad woman. I started to change my thinking and you know what started to happen? I started to get my energy back and I began to feel happier again – all because I began to focus on all of the good things that were happening in my life instead of all of the negative ones.

So can changing your thoughts really change your life? Well it certainly did for me -why don’t you give it a try it for yourself?

Gosh, I can so relate (as you know!). Building dreams in times of adversity takes courage…mostly it takes belief and a positive outlook…I'm chasing and constructing!

First…thanks so much for coming by for a visit. Love making new friends…now I'm Following you! Your post is so true. It takes discipline to focus your mind and thoughts. It can serve us to rant forever about things we have no power to change. It feels good for the short term. In the end though…it just does us more harm. Thanks for the reminder. I usually post M-F. Come on by again sometime soon. Holly at lifelaughlatte

Yes, I do believe this. Especially the negative thoughts bit. It attracts the like. Thanks so much for dropping by Beach Vintage and leaving a comment.
