Are You Met At The Door By A Furry Face When You Come Home From Work?

Now I don’t mean the beard on your husband’s face (or if you’re a bloke … hmmm … not sure what to say here), but I’m talking about a furry critter like a cat or a dog? And just so you know, I’m going to stick to furry critters for this post as I know there are plenty of people out there that have pet chooks, fish, snakes, turtles, etc.

Anyway … moving right along. So, how does it feel when you are greeted at the door by a furry face? Does it bring a smile to your face and help relieve any stress that you may have experienced during the day? Do you experience a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that someone loves you unconditionally?.

Well that’s so long as “Rover” doesn’t bowl you over with sloppy kisses and knock out a few ornaments in the process!!

(Sorry for the not-so-original name of Rover. It was chosen purely for demonstration purposes … )

Anyway, if you’re a pet owner I’m sure that you will do anything to protect the health of your cat or dog.

But did you know that your pet may be doing even more to help with your own health?

..
Studies have revealed that pet owners have a higher immunity, better resistance to stress, are less likely to suffer from asthma and allergies, and have much lower blood pressure.

You see anything that you do which is relaxing and enjoyable (like hanging out with your pet), actually helps to boost endorphins in your brain which enhances your mood.

And the good news for us shift workers is that it also lowers the release of stress chemicals which can interfere with our sleep!

How cool is that?

So “thanks” Rover. Or in my case, as you can see in the picture above, it’s ‘Misty’ and she’s a cat.

I'm happy for that welcome, tail flipping and jumping around already on my way home.

    Well hello there lady,"healthy shift worker";

I do agree; "furry People" do improve one's health in a myriad of ways!

~So on that note my dear, I will take this opportunity to extend a warm and somewhat "perr-fect" invitation to join myself and "the kitties two" for not only TUESDAY TEA FOR TWO, yet also to," WEDNEDAY TEA FOR ME AND THEE", at The Plumed Pen blog..,

Hope to see you there;(even if with the time difference, you happen to pop by on Thursday instead)..,

Cheers from Silken Purse@ The Plumed Pen

Yes, I've read and seen stories about the positive effects that pets can have on your health. We have two cats. One is friendly, the other isn't. The negative side is that they wake you up because they're hungry.

I actually did know this and it makes me adore my little pets even more. I don't want to live in a world with no pets!

A perfect purr or a wagging tail is by far the best way to leave work at the door! x
